South River

Classic cars decorate South River's Main Street during Cruise Night.

South River is known as a community that is rich in tradition and culture. One of the smallest municipalities in Middlesex County, the 1.9 square miles of the borough are nestled between Sayreville and East Brunswick.

Bordered on the east by its namesake, the South River, the borough is host to many small green parks that add to the serenity of its homes and businesses. Various types of commercial and professional businesses have come to call the thriving borough their home, in addition to the many newer homeowners who are taking advantage of the bustling and diverse community.

Senior citizen organizations and the Recreation Department offer many programs for people of all ages, including informal seminars, counseling services, fishing derbies and athletic competitions. The War Memorial Museum, located on Main Street, is the site of many school tours and stores old treasures from the borough's diverse history.
